Slano is a small town in a 2 km long bay. It is only at 35 km from Dubrovnik, just opposite the island of Sipan. We chose this ideal and strategic position of the marina in Slano as our second base because it makes a great starting point for your sail cruise in Croatia. It is at only 12 Nm from Dubrovnik, 9 from Mljet, 35 from Korcula and 44 from Lastovo - perfect starting point for discovering South Dalmatia.
This town and its surrounding areas have been inhabited since the prehistoric and ancient times, with traces of the Greek, Roman and medieval times still visible in old castles and walls. Although the town was attacked during the Homeland war, the locals have worked hard to make it look like a small paradise. Slano features beautiful pebble and sandy beaches.
We recommend restaurants such as “Grgurici” and “Kolarin”, as well as the “Maestral” tavern or give the new Perast restaurant within the new marina a go.
Slano is ideal when chartering a boat. Visit the nearby destinations either as a day trip or take your time and explore the Elaphiti islands or beyond. Relax mind, body and soul on and around Sipan, Lopud, Kolocep, or head over to the Peljesac peninsula and discover how salt has been harvested over the ages. Take up some windsurfing in Viganj, or indulge in fine and particular dining experience in Kobas.
Dubrovnik should definitely be on your to-see-list. The city’s history started in the 600’s and over the centuries the town evolved into an independent republic. To be able to keep their sovereignty they built mighty defensive walls that thousands of visitors admire every year. They are best appreciated from the sea so you’ll get the best view right from your boat. After you’ve had enough of the view (if ever) you should roam the streets, squares, palaces and fortifications and find your favorite corner, café, restaurant or spot.
