Congratulations to all the winners and to the other crews - we hope you enjoyed all aspects of the regatta and we wish you better luck next year. There's plenty of time for practicing for the next year.
The regatta started on Saturday on the 27th of April 2019 in Nava Marina in Split. The day was sunny and the wind was blowing in favour of our 15 catamarans. Our participants started their journey towards Palmizana in the lovely Hvar archipelago. There, they truly showed us their sailing abilities in the first race since the conditions were the most challenging. The day was completed with a stunning sunset followed by the opening dinner at Toto's Restaurant. The view and the atmosphere on the island were really incredible.
On the following day, we went further south, and our destination was the town of Korcula. Along the way, two more races were held. After the exciting racing day, Korcula was a pleasant surprise to our participants. First there was the welcome drink in Hotel Korcula with local snacks and tasteful Rakija drinks. Then a private Moreska performance in the local theater. Moreska is an impressive sword dance, that is traditional in Korcula since at least the 17th century. Evening only got better with Korculanske Pjatance, a spring food festival that celebrates the finest modern, traditional and creative cuisine of Korcula. We divided guests into smaller groups and escorted or transferred them to the restaurants. LD, Aterina, Konoba Mate, Adio Mare, Konoba Maha and Eko Skoj served delicious meals in cozy settings. Dos Locos set up the official after-party with the trailor-made cocktail Lagoon.
On the 29th, before the last official part of racing, many of our guests took advantage of a special city guided tour in Korcula. Final two races took the Lagoons to Trpanj on the Peljesac peninsula with some stunning and picturesque cloud formations. Trpanj Beach Bar started the evening with fresh oysters and wine, then some sushi, followed by tuna steaks, tuna alla pasticada and other delicacies. Fireworks celebrated the official awards ceremony. The party was epic, to say the least, with D.J. and Jaksa on the bar playing sax.
On Tuesday, the 30th April 2019 some chose to start early for Split since the weather wasn't splendid, but those who decided to stay got to see a presentation of new a water toy - TIWAL. These are small inflatable sailboats that fit into 2 bags. Nava is TIWAL's official distributor in Croatia and we are offering these water toys for rent to our guests as well as for sale to our partners.
We can only say that we are looking forward to the ninth edition of the Regatta and we'll be announcing details and dates in the following months. We hope to see you next year!
